Vacation Decadance

After going nearly four weeks with intermittent fasting and eating healthier I went on Vacation.

This was a vacation from everything (except for the family).  I wanted to step back from the daily grind of my every day life and just enjoy my wife and children.  Went went to the beach a couple of times.  We went to the pool a couple of times.  We went out and saw some sites and even enjoyed our second trip to the La Brea Tar Pits, this was the first time for our 4 year old and 1 year old.  Everyone enjoyed themselves a ton but the kids kinda sorta didn't enjoy the random site seeing because they would have rather been at the beach or pool or just doing something more exciting.  They did take it well for the most part and were rewarded with more fun.

However, like I said before, this was a vacation from my normal daily grind.

Vacation from Podcasts.
Vacation from Blogs.
Vacation from Social Media.
Vacation (mostly) from my phone.
Vacation from Intermittent Fasting and healthier eating.

Obviously that last one is the most important one.  I didn't totally jump off the rails and go crazy but I had to make some adjustments around our daily vacation activities and whatnot.

On the way to California I ended up extending my last fast for 24 hours and held out until we got to our hotel.  We decided to do lunch and then head to the beach.  After a few hours at the beach we packed up the kids (who absolutely did not want to go) and found something to eat for dinner before we headed back to the hotel to shower, relax and get some shut eye.  Yeah, I did another 24 hour fast and then followed it up with 2 meals which is something I hadn't done in over a week.

The next day we woke up early and went down for our free (I mean, we technically paid for with those expensive hotel fees) breakfast before heading out to the beach again.  After a few more hours and my eventual sunburn we went back to the hotel for another shower and some dinner.  Beer was had and one day I want to talk about beer but today is not the time.

Repeat this whole multiple meal thing for the duration of the vacation and even some snacks thrown in there and the whole time I made sure that I wasn't overeating and trying to control my portion sizes even though I was eating more than normal.   I didn't keep track of any fasting information, I just took every day as it came.  Vacation.

Today, er yesterday at this point, when we got home and before I took my nap for my week of overnight shifts at work I weighed myself just to see where I was (even though it was not a normal weigh-in hour for me) and my weight wasn't far off from where it was when I weighed myself Monday morning for the 3-week challenge I joined.  I feel like this is definitely positive and as I transition back into Intermittent fasting and healthier choices I'll easily drop those 6 pounds needed by the deadline.

Overall I am very happy with the vacation from life and half disappointed to be back to the normal grind of work and everything else but I am happy to be back to fasting and getting back on board with my weight loss plans and goals.

Changing my life like this has not been the easiest task but I feel like I am adapting well and have the proper mindset.

And now that I have put the first month behind me with amazing results I need to find a schedule or routine to making one or two posts per week on this here blog instead of trying to cram in almost daily posts.  I feel like I needed to jump in deep and keep talking about things for the first month to make sure I was keeping on track and now I feel like I can step back and use that time for other things as long as I keep coming back a couple times a week to give updates and talk my way through things.

As always you all have made this so much easier with encouragement whether that is through social media forms or phone calls or text messages.  I'm not sure I could do this (at least as successfully) without all of you and I appreciate it.

Thank you all for coming along with me on this journey.

I am slowly trying to erase a lifetime off bad decisions with better ones so the second half can be more fruitful!
