Winner Winner

My three week challenge has ended and I'm happy report that I am a winner. I started the challenge at 258.1 and my goal was to lose 6 pounds.  Three weeks later I weighed in at 250.4 which was higher than I thought i'd be, but still a winner.  I really appreciate this challenge coming into my life to help give me extra motivation. I will continue to look for new motivation as I march towards thin.

During the last week of the challenge I basically made no progress because I had an evening where i gorged myself and gained about 5 pounds.  Some of that, I feel, is because I ate so late at night and thus my body didn't have time to process everything I put in me.

Over the next couple of days I lost most of what I put on and then I had a 3 day period where I basically weighed the same every morning.

Three days of basically coming in at the same weight helped me come to a realization.

During the 2nd and 3rd of those days I spent the morning with my children.  My 4 year old loves to start him morning with a very unhealthy waffle and as a parent who spoils his children with some things, I allow it to happen.

Those two days he either ate one and asked for a second or said he was really really hungry and asked for two right out the gate.  Normally this kid will eat two but on these days he did not.

Day one he ate the first and then maybe 25% of the second.  On the 2nd day he ate 75% of the first and then gave up.

Both of these days I brought the waffles with me in case he wanted them during the car ride to the in-laws.  Both days he decided he didn't want any more and I really didn't wan to let these waffles go to waste so I ended my fast and ate them.

It wasn't until the third day that I weighed in at the same weight that it hit me, all of the carbs and sugars from this breakfast feast for the gods is probably what stalled me.  My dinners remained basically the same so, in my mind, this makes perfect sense.

Yesterday I decided that I needed to kick start my system after that stall and I avoided the waffle treat and pushed to a 28 hour fast, my longest ever.  This morning I woke up and the needle had moved again, and all was right with the world. With the way this competition lined up the end date of one challenge is also the start date of the next.

For this next challenge the goal is not a set amount of pounds, but a percentage to make it more fair for everyone.  This competition is 3% which means that I have to lose 7.5 pounds and my goal weight will be 242.9.

Once again, I got this.  The end date for this competition is September 2nd, which also coincides with the first date of my Vacation.  Therefore I am forcing myself to hit my goal weight by the time I wake up on September 1st as I don't know if I'll have access to a scale on the 2nd.

If you have been a reader of mine since I started this then you'll possibly remember that I also had another goal of 240 by September 15th.  This was a bit of a challenge that a buddy had so I jumped on with him so he didn't have to go it alone.

I'll have one more post later this week when the financial situation due to the challenge shakes out.
And also I am ever closer to launching the podcast that will be in conjunction to this blog and I hope some of you decide to come along with that ride as well.

Right now I'm busy trying to figure out a good first episode to use as a jumping on point and once I get those details ironed out and record it I will launch that to the world on Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Thank you all for coming along on this journey with me.

  1. Glad to see the progress you have made. That's approaching the 25lbs loss area right?

    1. Yes - 249.4 will technically be 25 pounds and today I weighed in at 249.6.
I am SOOoOO Close to hitting 25 pounds I can taste it.

240 or bust by the time I visit you in September (or before I leave since I'll be eating Sheetz Hot Dogs as my first stop once I'm on the ground running)
